My name is Melissa N. Martínez I am a recent graduate of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez and currently have a Bachelors Degree of Arts in English Literature. During my studies at the University, I took a variety of courses in writing and literature which have given me a basic understanding of such. Besides those courses, I was the Editor-in-Chief for the Love of Writing, Arts, and Creativity Newsletter, as well as interned for “Esta Vida Boricua” as a Copy Editor, which helped improve my editing skills as well as my people skills. In the past year, I have been given the opportunity to work at Dorado Academy, one of the Islands top Bilingual schools, as a Middle School and High School History teacher. I have also had the chance to work as an English teacher at the Colegio Presbiteriano Pablo Casasús. Throughout the years, I have aided students, fortify their grammatical and language skills, by having them write essays, as well as introduce them to the novel, in order to enhance their curriculum. As a teacher, I encourage students to think critically and learn to form their own opinions on the topic that is being presented. I believe working with others, may it be my students or my co-workers, is a valuable asset in order to complete task's at hand and I truly enjoy it.
