Jacqui Corcoran Biog. I work as a freelance writer, journalist, media producer, online content writer and media consultant. At the beginning of 2013 I decided to move into a freelance position after 20 busy years as a producer at RTÉ Radio, Ireland’s biggest national radio and TV station, where my most recent position was as a producer on the daily arts show, Arena. I have recently completed an MA in Creative Writing (first class honours) with University College Cork. In the past I worked at various jobs in Ireland, London, USA and the Caribbean before coming back to Ireland to study journalism and, later, film production. After graduating I freelanced for a year, contributing to various publications including The Irish Times, Irish Press, Hotpress and Sunday Independent. I joined RTE in 1992 as a scriptwriter and researcher with the Gerry Ryan Show. I worked as a producer with RTE Radio 1 from 1995 until December 2012, during which time I produced various programmes including the station’s flagship magazine shows, a number of feature series and documentaries. I also presented, edited, and reported on a range of programmes. I spent four years producing “A Living Word,” a daily reflection featuring original writing from contributors including Anne Enright, Colm Toibin and Paul Durcan. In 2001 I compiled and edited a selection of these pieces for the book A Living Word, which was published by Townhouse. Since taking redundancy, as well as developing my freelance writing/ media consultancy business I’ve completed a number of creative writing projects. In 2014 I was the Green Party’s campaign manager for their MEP candidate, the former high-profile Greenpeace activist Grace O’Sullivan. I went on to work as campaign manager for her 2016 General Election campaign, when she was subsequently elected as a Senator. I continue my work with her now as a media consultant and online content writer.
