My name is Melissa N. Martínez, I am writing to express my interest in working for your company. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Puerto Rico: Mayagüez Campus as well as five years working as a high school English teacher and eight years working as a freelance editor. These combined experiences have allowed me to develop sharp attention to details, strong spelling and grammar skills, time management and organizational skills, and diverse knowledge in writing. At the university, I was the Editor-in-Chief for the Love of Writing, Arts, and Creativity Newsletter, as well as a copyediting intern for “Esta Vida Boricua.” My years as a teacher helped me develop solid time management and organization skills. I always keep careful track of projects and can complete work on time to meet all deadlines. Most recently, I have developed my very own editing service Moonlit Editing which has helped improve my editing skills as well as my networking skills. My work as a freelancer involves a careful review of a client’s work before publication. Attention to detail and strong grammar skills are key in catching many errors before a manuscript or document ready to be published or go to print. I have excellent computer skills and am knowledgeable with multiple applications so that communication with my clients is always clear and my editing work is precise.
