Having worked with The Parliament House Press for three years, as well as freelance editing for eight, I have the skills and industry expertise to help you take your writing to the next level! I view editing as a collaborative process, where two like-minded individuals come together—the creator and a skilled professional—to turn your book dreams into reality.
I charge by word edited, so you can be certain that regardless of how long it takes me to perform my work (though I guarantee a timely turnaround), you will always be getting the best quality of edits for your money.
Here are the services I offer:
- Manuscript Evaluation: This is best for the writer who is unsure of what type of edits their work needs. I read and offer an editorial evaluation that presents my viewpoints as an editor, publishing professional, writer, and consumer of media. Expect a bulleted overview of the largest strengths and weaknesses for your work.
- Developmental Edits: Here's the big-picture stuff. In this stage, the story structure, worldbuilding, character arcs/relationships, pacing, and plot holes are addressed.
- Line Edits: This is where the writing itself is dissected. Once your story is ship-shape, we work on sentence structure, flow, word choice, paragraph structure, tone, and voice.
- Proofreading/Copyedits: Sometimes called the Galley Edit, this is the last stop before publication. Each tiny nuance, down to grammar and punctuation is polished to a perfect shine, as well as any other outstanding issues that had not been previously resolved.
Each stage of editing demands a unique price, depending on the amount of editing that needs to be done and the scope of the most realistic deadlines for both you and me. However, it should be noted that I am always willing to work with my clients—it is not my goal to make you go broke! I also offer packages that cover more than one type of edit, to be discussed with each individual client to give your book or story exactly what it needs.
I am always available for questions or concerns! Let's work together!
