I am an excellent editor and writer with an ability to understand the content quickly and pay attention to detail. I have worked in medical research for 20 years and held a number of roles in the pharmaceutical industry and university environments, ranging from conducting to managing laboratory-based research, as well as teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. These roles gave me a thorough grounding in science communication, writing research papers, grant proposals and reports, as well as assessing and editing the work of others. My research focused on neurodegenerative conditions, with an emphasis on molecular aspects of Alzheimer's disease. Since leaving full-time academic research in February 2012, I have worked as a freelance editor. This has involved editing material from a much wider range of disciplines and shown me that my skills can be adapted to understand material describing many aspects of medical and pharmaceutical research.
