I am a medical doctor who has completed a Master in International Health (with a focus on refugee and humanitarian health). I have worked as an emergency doctor, mental health officer, medical volunteer, health advisor, and as a medical coordinator in Australia, Timor-Leste, Uganda, Iraq, Tunisia and Libya. I have successfully submitted several global health-related articles that have been published in reputable journals, and I have published several reflection articles for magazines and newspapers related to my experience working in complex contexts. I also have experience in writing technical guidelines and SOPs to be used in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments. Back when I was a medical student, I created information, education and communication materials for households in Timor-Leste on how to reduce the risk of tuberculosis transmission between family members. I have strong experience in conducting extensive literature reviews, and have sound knowledge of navigating and utilising online libraries and databases (such as PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library) and grey literature sources (such as Google Scholar) in order to extract and synthesise relevant and scientifically sound information. I believe that innovative, interesting and effective communication is key to spreading important public health messages that can change the lives of individuals, families and communities.
