A trusted cleaner who brutally bashed her 92-year-old client to death struggled with a gambling addiction and gave birth prematurely.
Hanny Papanicolaou, 39, climbed the fence of Marjorie Welsh's home in Ashbury, Sydney's inner-west, before attacking the elderly woman on January 2, 2019.
Ms Welsh was not expecting her cleaner but welcomed her with a smile, just minutes before Papanicolaou began to beat her with her own cane.
She hit her elderly client until the stick broke - forcing her to find another - before hurling several ceramic pots onto Ms Welsh and grabbing a knife from a drawer.

Papanicolaou stabbed the 92-year-old several times in the chest and abdomen with Ms Welsh - who survived the assault - describing her attacker as 'utterly ferocious'.
She only stopped after the elderly woman thought to activate a medical alert necklace her family had set-up for her just weeks before.
Spooked by the loud siren Papanicolaou grabbed the knife she had used to stab the older woman and fled the Ashbury home in her car, The Australian reports.

وأجرت ويلش مقابلتين للشرطة أثناء وجودها في المستشفى، ووصفت مهاجمها بأنه "هاني مدبرة المنزل" ووصفت الهجوم المروع بالتفصيل.
وعندما سئلت عما إذا كان بإمكانها التفكير في سبب الهجوم، أجابت: "سيكون من راحة البال إذا استطعت".
"عادة ما تكون هناك أسباب منطقية للأشياء التي تحدث في هذا العالم ، لكنني لا أستطيع أن أرى أي منطق في هذا."
