The title for my listing may sound extreme but the fact of the matter is that or several years I worked as a data entry professional for the Red Cross Blood Donor program and entered data that was truly a matter of life or death. In this role, I was required to be both accurate and efficient in data entry. Inaccurate entries meant that we could not be 100% certain our blood supply was safe and often resulted in the destruction of several units of blood. The result was that those who relied on us for life-saving transfusions could not get the blood they needed. In this role I leaned to take accuracy and speed to heart and to deliver both on a regular basis. My speed and accuracy were both rated in the 99th percentile for the Central Blood Region for the last three years that I worked there. In addition to this work as data entry professional I have five years of experience in working for an accounting firm doing bookkeeping and tax data entry. Here again accuracy and speed were the highest priority. During tax season I would regularly enter data from over 100 different tax forms to prepare returns for an accountant to review. In this role I also often was called upon to enter data into Microsoft Xcel spreadsheets for payroll processing. My data entry was the highest in terms of accuracy in the office. I also ranked among the top two for speed of entry for all five years that I worked for the firm.
