I studied traditional studio art in Austin, Texas where I learned how envision, design, and create artwork in a studio environment. My major areas of interest were drawing and painting. Since then, I have learned how to create artwork digitally on my own, which has has a been both challenging and rewarding. Since finishing college I have worked as an illustrator in children's books, novel cover art, comics, concept pieces, and specific commissioned artwork. I especially like working in watercolors and traditional inks. I have studied both comic and manga style graphic art extensively, and attend weekly figure drawing groups to keep my skills sharp. As a painter, my artwork can be seen as permanent installation pieces in bars and restaurants scattered around Texas, California, and New York. All being unique places I have had the privilege to live. I believe that communication is the most important aspect in any working relationship, and like to keep clients informed with regular and progressive updates. I enjoy what I do thoroughly, and feel lucky to make a living creating. My main goal is to make all those ideas and visions in your head come to life, be it on a screen, a piece of paper, or a large canvas. I am willing to put in the time and energy to make sure that you are happy with what you receive. Thanks for your time, and I look forward to hearing about your project. Sincerely, James Durrant
