Sen. Mallory McMorrow, of Royal Oak, defended herself against a false claim from another legislator that she wants to “groom and sexualize kindergarteners.” She tweeted a video of the speech, and it was viewed more than 9 million times in less than a day.


Tim Idzikowski, owner of Ferndale food truck Detroit BBQ Co., dies at 36.

Idzikowski passed away on April 14. The cause of his death was not disclosed. A celebration of life was scheduled at Batch Brewing Co.


Detroit City Football Club wins first-ever match with a Major League Soccer team.

DCFC made history by beating the two-time champion Columbus Crew 2-1 at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck on April 19.


Independent autopsy report of Patrick Lyoya has been released.

Conducted by nationally known pathologists Drs. Werner Spitz and Michael Baden, the report confirms — as recently released video footage shows — that the 26-year-old died from a gunshot in the back of the head. A funeral for Lyoya will take place on Friday in Grand Rapids.


Demolition begins on Madison Heights site that oozed toxic slime.

Electro-Plating Services was responsible for a green slime — which contained groundwater contaminated with cancer-causing hexavalent chromium — that oozed onto I-96 in 2019.


The historic Detroit Central Market is restored at Greenfield Village.

Visitors got their first look at the 160-year-old farmer’s market when the museum opened for the 2022 season over the weekend. It’s the first permanent addition to Greenfield Village since 2000.
