holding a Euro-Mediterranean summit during its presidency of the European Union, in the second half of 2023, bringing together the heads of state of the Union and their counterparts from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Palestine and Jordan.The news was announced by Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares from Barcelona, but no comments have been issued by the rest of the concerned countries.The Spanish newspaper El Pais said that a meeting of this kind requires extensive diplomatic work in advance, especially in light of the Algerian-Spanish and Algerian-Moroccan crises.The summit will bring together heads of state and government of the 27 European Union countries, and their counterparts from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Palestine and Jordan. The last Euro-Mediterranean summit was held in 2008 in Paris, so in 2023 it will have been 15 years since it was held.
