Andy Gacy Remarks About Jeff Bezos
In an interview with Bloomberg, Andy Gacy, the current CEO of Amazon, said that Jeff Bezos - ranked the second richest man in the world - remains "focused" on Amazon despite stepping down as CEO last year to spend more time on his projects. Charitable and Rocket Corporation.
Gacy, who became Amazon CEO in July, told the news agency that he still talks to Bezos regularly about the company's business.
"We still talk all the time," Gacy said. "It's very helpful for me to be able to seek his advice. He did the job for a long time, and he was always available.”
The veteran businessman, who spent about 25 years at Amazon, said he enjoys a close relationship with Bezos and is still able to "bounce different things" from Bezos, stressing that he "remains focused on Amazon." But he did not go into detail about the elements of Amazon's business he is discussing with Bezos.
Jeff Bezos Focuses on One-Way Decisions at Amazon
Brian Olsavsky, Amazon's chief financial officer, said on a February 2021 results call that Bezos will remain involved in major "one-way" decisions such as acquisitions and business strategy.
When Bezos moved from CEO role to his new role, he told employees in a letter that he "will remain involved in important Amazon initiatives."
Bezos has also said he will focus more on his charitable work and space exploration company Blue Origin. He flew to the edge of space on a Blue Origin rocket in July last year.
