According to AP, the city council of Kyiv is now providing evacuation centers with potassium iodine pills in preparation for a possible nuclear strike on Ukraine's capital. A Twitter user corroborated the claim, posting a photo of some pills provided by the council. User @lordcanas posted the photo on Twitter this evening.

Potassium iodine can help block the absorption of radiation if taken just before or immediately after exposure.

There are currently no reports of an imminent nuclear threat to Kyiv or elsewhere in Ukraine, but President Putin has upped his grandstanding on using nuclear weapons in recent days.

He has said that he would “use all the means at our disposal” to win the war while his ground forces retreat from a Ukrainian counterattack.
