Charles Leclerc was again beaten by Max Verstappen in qualifying at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. His team was also mistaken again. It probably would not have made any difference compared to Verstappen, the Monegask himself emphasized after the session.

Leclerc and Verstappen competed for P15 during qualifying for the Belgian GP. The speed of Verstappen was otherworldly and the Dutchman did not even drive a second and final run. Leclerc did not come close and that was partly due to another blunder at the team that sent him out on the wrong set of tires. Whether the blunder contributed to the loss is doubtful.

Leclerc worried about Verstappen speed

At Viaplay , Leclerc says about the blunder : “I did not expect it. We'll talk about it internally. I just don't know if it will be fully open tomorrow. That pace [of Verstappen] is otherworldly.” Leclerc also said to Sky Sports that he was concerned : “Max's pace is worrying. They are extremely fast and we cannot explain why.” The Monegask concludes: "With such a big gap in qualifying it would be strange if we were just as fast in the race."
