I had an early interest in the counseling field but there was some part of me that wanted to acquire more life experience before returning to school. As I moved from position to position I acquired skills along the way that even now I use in my new career path. The database experience I have has proven invaluable as I navigate my way in Anasazi, the database platform we use at Burke. The skills I acquired in presenting before groups has proven useful as I’ve conducted my own group therapy sessions that have been part psycho educational and part process group. The skills I’ve acquired conducting research continues to inform my day to day work life as I am continually challenged by clients who come in with their own unique issues that necessitate reading about the latest treatment. I come from a place of a sincere desire to listen and to understand. And I operate from a place of empathy and authenticity.
