A federal court in the United States has sentenced a member of an ISIS cell known as "The Beatles" to life in prison.
Alexanda Kotey, 38, a former British citizen, pleaded guilty in September, admitting responsibility for the killing of four American hostages in Syria, as well as the kidnapping and torture of about 20 Westerners.
Another member of the same cell was convicted in April, al-Shafi’i al-Sheikh, who was arrested by Syrian Kurdish forces along with Koti in 2018, and his sentence will be determined this summer.
The two men were present Friday at the Alexandria Courthouse, near Washington, where relatives of their victims were able to testify one last time.
Britain's Bethany Haines, the daughter of one of the victims, said: "You kidnapped, tortured and participated in the murders of good and innocent people, and now you have to live with that for the rest of your life.
