During my many years of teaching postsecondary mathematics and statistics, I have developed new courses, authored diagnostic and exit exams, and proof read for publishers and testing companies. The ideas of Common Core Curriculum and STEM education are not new to me. The American Mathematical Society of Two-Year Colleges and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics have always promoted common standards that promote integrating application problems into the curriculum and developing higher order thinking skills in our students.
