Mohamed Hermas is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and offshore pipe laying specialist. Hermas is an analysis engineer and a mathematician conversant with finite element method (FEM) and an excellent user of MATLAB language. Mohamed assists in designing bespoke software solutions using FEM and recycling existing spreadsheets into a user-friendly format. He helps managers, engineers, small, and big companies develop their EPC project strategies and provide training for a wide range of topics and skills. Mohamed began as a field engineer and got his hands dirty in the offshore construction, combining more than 15 years' experience in a variety of projects. Mohamed wrote a tremendous number of offshore installation procedures, and method statements and designed many ad-hoc installation aids. In 2015, he was awarded a Master's degree in subsea engineering. A year later, he became a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (MIMechE) and a Chartered Engineer (CEng), and in the same year, he founded a blog website dedicated to offshore professionals: www.offshoreengineerguide.com In mid-2017, Hermas started developing his first offshore pipelay analysis software, for which an experimental version will be issued in the first quarter of 2018.
