I have four years professional experience as a competition and regulation economics consultant in South Africa. Over this period, I worked with the following industries: fleet management, clothing retail, protein, consumer goods, petroleum products, casino, beer distribution, private healthcare, coal, pay-TV, electricity, and the national lottery. Over this period, I developed a number of competencies: I now work as a health economist in the public sector in South Africa, which involves the following competencies: • Econometrics including multiple regression analysis, panel data analysis including natural experiments, survival analysis, and cost and cost-effectiveness analysis in the health care industry. • Qualitative data analysis using Nvivo • Academic article drafting, reviewing and editing • Development, management and review of cost and cost-effectiveness models including health technology assessments • Familiarity with Tree Age software to do health technology assessments • Analysis of publically available health utilisation and budget data
