Microsoft Bing 'filter by date'

Being one of the world’s most popular search engines comes with a lot of responsibility. Microsoft Bing has proved that time and again.

Bing provides a number of ways to perform advanced searches that drastically cut down the results. Ultimately, displaying answers that a user might be most interested in.

For instance, you can find news on trending topics with Bing advanced search filters. One can sort the searches by most recent and even filter out everything that’s comparatively older.

That said, some of the filters like ‘filter by date’ don’t seem available on Bing for many users.

Users are reporting an issue where they are unable to filter their Microsoft Bing searches by date.

But the drop-down menu has seemingly disappeared from all searches. You can check out some of the reports of the same below or on the Microsoft community forum.

Yes, me too; very annoying. It makes Bing unusable and forces me — unwillingly — to google.com. Please fix this

The ‘filter by date’ option seems to be unavailable on other browsers too like Firefox, Chrome, Edge and so on.

I have same issue in ALL browsers (safari, edge, chrome, firefox) on ALL devices. No date option. No matter logged with MS account or not. This stops me from using Bing.Source

It becomes even more frustrating for those whose default search engine is Bing. It hinders the process of research for many of those affected.

Potential workaround

Fortunately, we have come across a workaround that can help fix the issue temporarily.

In other words, the query parameter of the URL can be modified manually.

As Microsoft hasn’t acknowledged the issue yet, affected users can try the aforementioned workaround to see if it actually fixes the problem.
