Microsoft is improving the Bing chatbot

$25/hr Starting at $25

Microsoft has been upgrading Bing Chat's artificial intelligence (AI) skills since its launch, along with expanding the use cases of the AI chat bot, adding support for LaTeX markup that will enable Bing Chat to correctly display complex mathematical expressions. "We shipped support for LaTeX encoding - allowing Bing Chat to correctly display complex mathematical expressions," the company said in a blog post. "This makes Bing chat an even more useful tool for learning math concepts or writing technical research papers."

Low end conversation triggers The addition is part of a larger update Microsoft announces each week, in which the company also said that Bing Chat will reduce end-of-chat triggers and provide better answers about news. "We've heard feedback that messages can sometimes lead to Bing ending conversations unnecessarily," the company said.

For example, Bing Chat frequently replies, "I'm sorry but I'd rather not continue this conversation." or "Maybe it's time to move on to a new topic." Microsoft said that this conversation "should happen less frequently now than before." The company also continues to investigate cases where this occurs.

Microsoft indicated that it has taken certain steps that will enable Bing to provide better answers if you ask questions about the news. (For example, "What's the most important breaking news today?"). The company has also fixed some known bugs, including reducing instances where Bing Chat leads to unnecessary duplicate searches and reducing bugs that caused Bing Chat to not respond to queries.

Bing on SwiftKey This development comes on the heels of a big announcement last week in which Microsoft announced updates to SwiftKey and other mobile apps to bring Bing chat to the keyboard with the aim of improving user productivity. It also announced that Kopilot would be coming to Microsoft Viva - the company's employee experience platform.
