Microsoft recently infused Bing Search with the power of OpenAI ChatGPT Generative AI. The Windows OS maker has been adding features to make the AI chatbot to make it even more useful and versatile.
Microsoft announced quite a few upgrades for its Generative AI tool earlier this month and has now confirmed that these features are rolling out to users. They will be gradually released, and will eventually be available in all regions where Bing search is accessible.
New Features Added To AI-Powered Bing Chat
Microsoft recently revealed that it has begun rolling out the much-awaited chat history feature for Bing chat. Users of the ChatGPT-powered chatbot can now see all their previous chat threads in the main chat window. Needless to say, users can easily return to and continue an older conversation.
Moving forward, users will be able to rename, delete, export, or even share a chat thread with other users. Incidentally, OpenAI recently released its official ChatGPT app for iOS. This app also features support for conversation history across synced devices.
Users will also be able to exclude records of conversations related to files on their PC. Users can choose not to allow Microsoft access to content that is not part of Microsoft's search index. This should prevent Microsoft and OpenAI from using any personal data to train Generative AI tools. Needless to say, this is a big step towards boosting user privacy.
Bing Chat Can Respond With Data Visualizations And Allows Exporting of Data
Google recently demonstrated how its Bard AI can be used to transfer chat results to Google Docs, Gmail, and other services. Microsoft has rolled out an identical export feature that will allow users to export chat results to a Microsoft Word document, Excel file, as plain text, or even a PDF document.
Bing chat has a new overlay feature for results that include a video response. This will allow users to watch full-screen videos, and even navigate videos in the response with timestamps located on the right side of the display.
Moving forward, Bing Chat users will automatically get word suggestions when typing prompts. This should significantly improve typing speed.
Responses containing numbers or statistics will have charts and visualizations, claimed Microsoft. For example, if a user asks for the stock price of a listed company, or asks the Bing chatbot to rank cities in a country by population, will see colorful graphs alongside the text results. Microsoft has also heavily optimized visual elements that are shown at the bottom of text-based answers for recipe-related queries.
