With song, prayer, canon fire, pride and remembrance, the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park’s largest crowed ever marked Memorial Day in Conroe.

Jimmie C. Edwards III, chairman of the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission announced at the end of Monday’s ceremony that approximately 2,700 had gathered at the park to observe Memorial Day on Monday, a day that also marked the second anniversary of the opening of the park. Another 5,000 plus tuned in online to see the ceremony broadcast via the group’s Facebook page.

After being moved from its downtown Conroe location to a more visible facility at Texas 105 and Interstate 45, the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park was dedicated on Memorial Day 2021.
