I am strong believer in the fundamental role of good communication and team work and so I embark on my job roles or consultancies by rolling my sleeves up and facing the internationalization mission with a bottom-up approach, working my way to the executive or board level where decisions need to be taken with a really clear perception of: what is happening in the inner works when looking at unit organization; and what is happening to your outer works when looking at your distribution system, especially on foreign markets. My transverse experience across industries in SMEs, with responsibilities in sales management & sales expansion/NBD, and commercial unit management, has taught me that skill sets can be acquired and are in constant renewal, while the proper traits and mindsets just need to be available right from the start. Matching the right people and resources will absolutely make the difference between success or failure in whatever action is started, be it a new product launch or the definition of an export sales strategic plan: I enjoy doing this by sometimes fishing some ideas from the most improbable sources. While I respect hyper specialization in some inevitable areas of business, I strongly believe in 360° approaches.
