KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety confirmed one person is dead after being hit by a train Wednesday evening.
KDPS responded to a report of a pedestrian struck at N. Westnedge Ave and Kalamazoo Ave.
Amtrak Alerts sent out its first alert regarding the incident just before 7 p.m. in a Twitter post.

Police confirmed to News Channel 3 that the victim died after sustaining serious injuries.
