In the 1990's all CMS systems were hand built, and I started manually migrating from one to another, regardless of the languages or data structure. These days, there are tools to assist moving content from one CMS to another. My decades of experience lead me to WordPress. There are less jobs to help people with WP, because it is simply more stable, more flexible, and easier to work with than the other solutions currently on the market. The conversion process is straight forward for content. However, plugins and other technologies that your site uses, will need to be replaced as we move your site, and the design will not transfer. Thus, the design and the technology, are the areas where budget needs to be explored. Also, if your CMS has been customized, issues may arise during the conversion process.
