Hi, I'm Stijn, a professional pattern maker based in Belgium (Antwerp). I'm currently working part time as a pattern maker and product developer for a menswear designer in Antwerp. Besides that job, I'm also doing bespoke assignments. I have a strong passion for and interest in pattern making and how it provides a way to go from a 2D design or idea, to a 3D object or garment. In my free time I like to experiment with new techniques and knowledge on pattern making, by reading through old tailoring magazines and reading up on pattern cutting techniques and trying out new or different ways. I can do both analogical and digital patterns, but prefer to do it the analogical way, since it has the advantage of working on a 1:1 scale. That being said, the digital way provides easier grading options etc. I'm also a trained seamster, so I can provide prototypes or samples with finishes, if requested. I got my training at a two year technical course in patternmaking and sewing in Mechelen (Belgium), after which I went to the School of Arts in Ghent (Belgium) to get my master's degree in Fashion. I used the five years at the academy to experiment with and become very familiar with pattern making and the possibilities it offers. After my studies, I did an internship at Jan-Jan Van Essche, where I'm currently working as a pattern maker. Next to that I also had the opportunity to do a short apprenticeship in tailoring at Dries Van Noten, which gave me a greater knowledge of finishings and how to translate them in patterns. A full resume with the relevant experiences and projects I've had the opportunity to work on can be found on LinkedIn (Stijn Van den Bulck). If there would be any further questions, I'm always available to answer them. Stijn.
