My experiences have allowed me to learn skills in organization, leadership, and time management. As a student athlete on the Penn State Lionettes Dance Team, I strive to achieve goals while having to balance my schoolwork and extracurricular activities. Teamwork occurs throughout my day-to day activities, whether it is overcoming the skills my dance team faces when performing in competition or the ability to cooperate with my teammates while still showing leadership. Unfortunately, my team does not have a coach that runs our practices, but this has given me the abilities to motivate others and myself with a positive attitude. I am also a full-time nanny during the summer, allowing me to focus on the needs of each child and how to facilitate a proper learning environment while enforcing manners and appropriate language skills. I also intern for Penn State Extension Military Youth Programs. Sitting in the office, I've learned out to manage websites, and work Microsoft Excel, Word, and Publisher. I've made flyers, name tags, and sent emails. I've been in close contact with location managers, community business that offer donations, and Penn State Marketing personnel to organize military appreciation events. I've gotten very familiar with the process of professional email. Also, by sitting in on conference calls and meetings, I've gained so much more knowledge and practice on attending and listening skills.
