When your product is new, you neither have reviews nor ratings. Most of the time you put the product on Amazon sponsored ads, you lose money with hardly any sales even if you have high bids.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻:

The reason is – Most of the time, you put ads with generic, top-level, high volume or single word keywords for the new product from the beginning. These keywords have a lot of competition & products with lots of reviews & ratings.

So, it’s just a waste of money to compete with them. You may get to the top of the search by raising the bid to the maximum, but the conversion will not happen after the click. Because there is no social proof with the new product and everyone preferred to buy a product which has high social proof.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲?

1. Target long-tail keywords that are relevant to your new product. Let’s say you’re selling toys. Instead of targeting keywords like “Toys,” you should start with “musical toys for babies” if it’s relevant to your product.

(Benefit) In this way, the competition will be less, & your ads will be laser-focused.

2. During keywords research you have to shortlist the keywords which have 10 to 50 CPR per week. (This means we only need 7 to 8 sales per day for the next 10 to 14 days to rank upon those keywords.

So, the conversion will be high with the long tail keywords because you don't have to face more competition.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀.

Once you get some reviews & ratings from those sales, you can try medium-tail keywords like “toys for boys.” And after getting hundreds of reviews & ratings, you can target top-level keywords like "toys" or "kids toys".

I've only try to structure a strategy for keywords targetting (Manual) campaigns. Product targeting is also a most important aspect for launching a product and don't forget the Auto campaigns, too.

We will discuss the strategy for ASIN targeting and automatic campaign creation for newly launched product in upcoming posts.

Hope so I'm successful to deliver the main concept if you have any queries do ask me freely.
