Two police officers are sentenced to one year in prison each for false declaration, unlawful deprivation of liberty, assault and domestic violence, Lund District Court states.

This is the first time I have sentenced police officers to such a long prison sentence, says Chief Councilor Thed Adelswärd in a comment.

The police attacked a drunk man with pepper spray, broke into his home and took him to the arrest. Once at the station, they baselessly accused him of threatening to kill them. However, the truth could be discovered by the man's own surveillance camera, which described the entire event.

The police officers must also pay SEK 100,000 in damages to the victim. As a result of the verdict, they will also be fired. The incident occurred in Landskrona in March last year.
