I currently work as an associate professor of finance. I would like to use my skill set to work on economic/finance projects. My skill set is the following: 1. Data analysis: Analyze large amounts of data using econometric techniques to find patterns and conclusions. Example: I consulted for a company to determine how its tuition assistance program impacted employees in regard to retention, promotion, and productivity. 2. Data Management: Organize large amounts of data. Program of choice is SAS. 3. Automation: Automate processes to increase productivity gains. Example 1: I consulted for a hedge fund where the trader used Excel to create a trade list to submit to the broker. The process involved taking the old portfolio of 200 stocks and the new portfolio of 200 stocks and determining the number of shares to buy, sell, short, or cover. I turned a process that took 8 hours into a 15 minute process. Example 2: I consulted for a valuation firm that performed 409A, 141R, and 142 valuations. I used Excel to better automate the valuation process. I created a macro to easily input numbers and tables in the valuation report. Prior, the analyst did it manually. 4. Investing and Valuation: I have consulting experience working for a valuation and hedge fund firm. I can perform many types of analysis regarding investing and valuation.
