As a translator, I'll convert written material from one or more 'source languages' into the 'target language', making sure that the translated version conveys the meaning of the original as clearly as possible. The target language is normally your mother tongue. Transcreation may also be part of the job, which is a mix of translation, localization (taking into account factors such as cultural nuances), and copywriting, where the text is culturally and linguistically adapted to suit the reader.
My Translation Responsibilities:
- I read the given material and researched industry-specific terminology.
- I convert text and audio recordings from one language to one or more others.
- I ensure that translated content conveys original meaning and tone.
- I cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check the quality of the translation.
- I proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling, and punctuation accuracy.
- I network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices.
My Translation Requirements:
- My fluency in at least four languages in addition to your native language.
- I have excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
- I have Good knowledge of content editing tools.
- I am familiar with translation software and I have time management skills.
- I have BSc in Translation, Interpreting, or a similar field.
- My Additional certification is in Linguistics.
