As a freelance designer, I find myself managing multiple projects at once. One of my clients in particular holds a special place in my heart while displaying my skills as a manager. Currently, I am the director of an annual event in Pittsburgh called Handmade Arcade. As the director, my responsibilities include: oversee the planning, grant writing, and fundraising efforts; manage the budget and finances; responsible for the design and programming of the handmade arcade website and blog; oversee public relations and marketing team; organize applications (300+ per year) and jurying of applicants; work directly with the convention center event planners for our event which attracts over 9000 people in one day; ensure all permits and insurance are properly procured; oversee marketing collateral; and organize outreach and volunteers.
