Writing & Translation

Proofreader and Copywriter

$40/hr Starting at $40

From a 'teenage blogger' documenting all things: Hormones, Boys and School, to a freelancing 23 year old, calling both England and China home and making her passion of English & Writing her life. I'm referring to myself here, I'm going for that dramatic, movie trailer-esque introduction. Did it work? If not, let me talk briefly about me and my part in this field. As previously, and slightly egotistically mentioned, I started as most writers do, a prepubescent teen using words to attempt to grasp the concept of teenage life, and make it slightly more bearable. 8 GCSE's, 3 A Levels and a Marketing Degree later and I land myself in China, of all places, unbound by any contract, my own boss. When I'm not eating my way through South China and brushing up on my Mandarin, I am assisting local businesses ; mainly for proofreading and copywriting purposes, hence my title. I have an abundance of Chinese companies I work alongside, perfecting articles, advertisements, emails, presentations, speeches - the list goes on - for the purpose of a professional outcome for their Western clients. Each business slightly differs in style, which makes writing for them all the more interesting. I write mostly for: A leading lighting company, A budding fashion designer and even a niche group of party planners, hoping to become the next David Tutera. Through this, I've also offered a selection of Business English lessons, prepared and executed solely by myself with classes ranging from 1 student, to 15. I suppose this stems from my natural born teaching instinct I seemed to have carried throughout my life. I'm a helper, an efficient one at that. Experiencing the Chinese lifestyle has also aided my creative writing sparkler to stay firmly lit, blogging, vlogging and 'Instagramming' my way through my personal life. Amongst this, I'm also attempting my first novel ; inspired from a post-graduate tour of South East Asia I'll never forget. A relatable, quirky story which most 20-something year olds can both cringe and relate to. "The harder you work for something, the greater you’ll feel when you achieve it".
