I have been in a clerical position with a government law enforcement agency for 30+ years. I have a 'fondness' for applying excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation in everything authored - even if it is not my own! Many times I have been asked to proofread, or even write memos, letters, resumes, etc. for others. The person I work directly for has many times asked for my input when she is composing vital emails. I actually just enjoy scrutinizing the written word, and am (probably too) critical of verbal communications, as well. Typing 'your' when it is supposed to be 'you're' makes me see you as lazy. Using VIN number, PIN number, ATM machine, hot water heater, etc., are just a few of the communication 'mishaps' that constantly jump to the forefront of my attention when listening to the words of others.
