I have always had a love affair with English grammar. Writing is like painting with words, but to do it well, a writer needs to understand the fundamentals, like a painter understands his pigments. My passion for writing led me to a 30-year career as a broadcast journalist. I have been honored with five Emmy Awards and 14 Emmy nominations for my work. I now teach broadcast journalism students at a university here in Houston. I also do private coaching for TV journalists who want to improve their skills and advance in their careers. I proofread and edit their cover letters and resumés, and edit the scripts for their stories. When your passion is your profession, you are a very fortunate person. When you can share that passion with others, you are blessed. I have achieved both, and for that, I am truly grateful.
