After all editorial passes, a full proofread is the final stage before publication. This is where I come in and gently polish your novel to excellence, examining each word and sentence, so it’s ready to be read by your readers.  

If no professional editorial work has touched your book, then this service isn’t for you. It’s best practice to get your book professionally edited before proofreading.

Deliverables

1. I'll proofread your novel at sentence level honing in line by line. Making sure to refine your novel to read without disturbance. For a full proofread I’ll carefully attend to:

• Homophones and homonyms
• Widows, orphans and runts 
• Double words (‘and and,’ ‘the the,’ etc.)
• Dialogue punctuation
• Standard and consistent spelling, grammar and punctuation
• Spacing: letter, word, line and paragraph
• Standard formatting: indentation, paragraph style, section breaks 
• Comments where appropriate to explain decisions
• Consistency in design of text and image layout
• Highlighting of stacked hyphens
• Uniform hyphenation
• Uniform capitalisation
• Pagination and chapter sequencing

2. I’ll prepare a style sheet to note choices of selection to spelling, punctuation style, idiom usage, hyphenation, capitalisation and numbering.
