The 2014 South African general election will be held on 7th of May. 2014 will be the most difficult year for South Africa and especially for the ANC. The African National Congress (ANC) is considered a bit as “worldwide movement” that fought the injustices perpetrated by the white minority until the nineties of the twenty-first century.Since 1994, when it held its first multiracial elections, the ANC has managed to occupy the political management of the nation due to both the vision and the charisma of Nelson Mandela. But in the recent years, it is increasingly evident social and economic failure. After twenty years the dissolution of apartheid, South Africa remains a country full of contradictions, which are still strong inequalities between whites and blacks. At the beginning of the new millennium inequality remained: the unemployment rate in 2010 was 23.3% , but if you read it well it turns out that the majority of blacks are unemployed ( 29.8% ), while the minority ie 5% of the total unemployed is white. Within the ANC since Mandela stepped down from any political office there is fighting an internal struggle for power. DA (Democratic Alliance), the second largest party in South Africa, led by Helen Zille, former mayor of Cape Town, is creating serious problems to ANC. Just as interesting will be the political developments related to the decisions of an extraordinary woman, educated and very fierce: Mamphela Ramphele , good doctor, known academic personality (active at the University of Cape Town) and successful manager as well as anti-apartheid activist.
