The history of this region which forms Pakistan is full of events. It spreads over five thousand years. From the archeological sites of Mehargarh to Harappa and Moinjodaro, it represents the ancient India. Then comes the Budhist period and here we see the ancient sites of Taxila, Takhat Bhai and Swat. This was followed by the Hindu Shahi kingdoms.
With the invasions Muhammad Bin Qasim this area saw a massive shake up. While hordes of Muslim preachers accompanied the invaders from the Noth , the subcontinent saw a massive exodus. The presence of Roma and other Gypsy communities in the west is evidence of the impact of Muslim rule in the Subcontinent.
From Salatim of Delhi to the great Mughals India was a melting pot of cultures. The Fall of Mughals was followed by Desi states and emirates with varying degrees of sovereignty. The emergence of such states is itself an interesting phenomenon. The rise of Sikhs in Punjab and Talpurs in Sindh and Nawabs of Bahawalpur gave identity to the regional cultures and languages besides Urdu and Hindi as lingua franca. The westerners came to India with an expressed intention to promote trade with the locals but their rivalries in Europe had transformed their antagonism into trade competition, Sooner it started a massive colonization. Ultimately East India Company of the great Britain over powered the whole of Subcontinent.
The process of colonialism continued unabated till 1947 , the British masters left the subcontinent with a heavy heart and seeds of antagonism among the newly liberated Pakistan and India. From 1947 history of this area is that of rival neighbor who went to wars at least three times. The creation of Bengladesh was not an easy gain from the citizens of East Pakistan in 1971.
politically speaking the countries in the region have to face more problems . Some of these problems were related to the absence of basic human rights as enshrined in the respective constitutions of these nations.
so I am sure that the history of this area can attract the attention of many from within and outside of the Subcontinent.
