The retirement age will be set at 64 by 2030: French Prime Minister Elizabeth Borne presented the retirement reform on Tuesday, January 10, which is already facing strong opposition in the streets. The first day of union mobilization has been announced for January 19. This day has been launched by the leaders of the eight major unions (CFDT, CGT, FO, CFE-CGC, CFTC, Unsa, Solidarity, FSU), who had long announced their mobilization against any reduction in the retirement age, whether it is set at 63, 64, or 65 years old. They "are giving the start of a powerful mobilization on pensions over the long term," they say in a joint statement. This is an unprecedented union unity in 12 years, since the mobilization against the reform led by EricWoerth , who raised the legal age from 60 to 62 years old.The left joins the mobilization

The entire Left, from socialists to La France rebellious to environmentalists, called on Tuesday evening to join this first day of mobilization against the retirement reform. "On January 19, everyone mobilized in the street," tweeted the communist leader Fabien Roussel. "We call to join the,Intersyndicale" added the deputy Eric Coquerel (LFI) on BFMTV, as well as Pierre Jouvet, spokesperson for PS. "Of course. My sneakers are ready," said the national secretary of EELV Marine Tondelier to the AFP. The Left is strongly against this reform, with the leader of LFI Jean-Luc Melenchon denouncing it as a "serious social regression." The far-right Rassemblement is also opposing the reform, and Marine Le Pen has assured her "determination" to "block" an "unjust reform," without however directly calling to join the mobilization. The president of the LR deputies, Olivier Marleix, has expressed his satisfaction at being "heard" on the pace of the reform and the small retirements. The right is however demanding "review clauses" in 2027 "before going on to pursue if necessary to 64 years," underlined Olivier Marleix. PS, and the leader of its deputies Boris Vallaud, did not fail to denounce a programmed rally of LR and their president Eric Ciotti .
