• Ability to use initiative and develop new skills outside normal area of expertise • Good creative problem solving with the ability to use initiative to source and create design elements and to explore a range of viable approaches for responding to a brief • Good knowledge and understanding of technical issues in photography including digital workflow, professional photographic techniques and lighting. A background in photography is highly desirable • A working knowledge of design related issues such as colour management, asset management, font management, scanning etc • An understanding of media image requirements and ability to deliver against these in terms of formatting etc • An appreciation of the issues surrounding multi-media image design • A good understanding of photographic imagery, including how photographic images are used in the media • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work accurately under pressure • Understanding and experience of managing minor technical problems with design software and hardware • A knowledge of and interest in COMPANY output, specifically, an understanding of the design process and how design can meet audience needs and contribute to the COMPANY’s audience’s aims and aspirations • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders with confidentiality, tact and diplomacy • Ability to take direction and work independently • The ability to negotiate, persuade and sell ideas whilst maintaining trust and confidence
