The Russian army confirmed Friday that it had "completely liberated" the Azovstal industrial complex in the strategic city of Mariupol in southeastern Ukraine, after the last Ukrainian soldiers who were inside surrendered, while the Ukrainian military was subjected to "heavy" strikes by Russian artillery in Donbas.
"Since May 16, 2,439 Azov Nazis and Ukrainian soldiers trapped in the factory have surrendered. Today, May 20, the last group of 531 fighters has surrendered," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in a statement via Telegram.
