Three hypersonic missiles fired by Russia destroyed five buildings in southern Ukraine on Monday night, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The Kinzhal missiles, fired from a Russian Tu-22 supersonic bomber, struck "tourist infrastructure" in the city of Odesa, according to city government officials. The hotel airstrike reportedly left two people wounded. A similar airstrike on a hotel in Odesa occurred earlier on Monday.

In a separate attack, a shopping mall in Odesa was hit by seven missiles, according to Ukraine's Armed Forces Southern Operational Command. Five people were injured, and one person was killed in the strike, according to Ukraine's southern command. Images shared on social media by the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine of the aftermath of that attack showed widespread damage.
"The Russian world has congratulated the Hero City of Odesa since May 9, firing seven missiles at it," said Odesa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, according to the city council's Telegram channel.
The mayor was referencing Russian President Vladimir Putin laying flowers at a monument to the southern Ukrainian city in Moscow's Red Square on Monday during a ceremony commemorating Europe's victory in World War II.
According to the mayor, the shopping mall hit in the rocket attack was not a military target.
"This enterprise has nothing to do with military infrastructure," Trukhanov said.
The attacks in Odesa come on the same day that European Council President Charles Michel visited the southern port city.
Russia has launched over 1,300 missiles in Ukraine since its Feb. 24 invasion, according to Ukraine's deputy defense minister.
