Dr. Smoot's experience includes the application of gephysical methods to exploration projects. These include magnetotelluric and gravity methods analyzing basin thicknesses and large-scale basement structural features. He has applied seismic methods to identify strutural traps. He also has conducted fracture network analysis and pressure response resulting from flow to a well as part of unconventional resource play analysis focusing on the cross-cutting fracture network through the bedding planes. During the past four years, Dr. Smoot has provided technical oversight for a 70-well enhanced production field development project, which has involved simulation, well site selection, drilling plans, and pumping rate evaluations. The enhanced field includes 34 previously existing wells.
