$39/hr Starting at $499

As a Technical or scientific writers, I am creating different technical documents like scientific journal articles, standard operating procedures (SOP's), government proposals and instructional manuals. They use simple and user-friendly language and terminology so they can communicate complex and technical information to readers. Aside from text, technical writers use photographs, drawings, diagrams and charts to make the data more understandable.

Scientific and Technical writing involves researching and organizing complex scientific information. As a technical or scientific writer I would need to first determine the reading audience of the writing. To do this, I may chat with technical staff, IF REQUIRED in order to understand how products work. I would also be responsible for choosing what type of media is appropriate for the information such as printed form, video, e-learning or online media.

As technical or scientific writing requires a high level of accuracy, excellent research and analysis skills and the ability to explain technical concepts in a non-technical, easy to understand way. Because of the volume of information and details that I would be working with my clients I need to be methodical and logical in the way to organize information. Furthermore, I would usually have deadlines to meet so I need to be efficient and effective in the way to manage my clients time.

As a scientific technical writer, I write documents that communicate or explain a scientific concept. Technical writing is not like most other forms of writing. In science, this role focuses on manuals, standard operating procedures, work instructions (scientific jobs or instrumentation) white papers, journal papers, and similarly advanced material that focuses on a specific, well-educated audience. As a scientific and technical writers I  gathering information before starting to work on a technical document. This job often involves transforming data and procedures into clear, concise explanations, especially if the document has any legal implications.

Being a technical or scientific writer is not just about creating content. It would involve editing text and standardizing documents across media formats. I may also need to update existing manuals, Standards operating procedures, work instruction and QMS documents, test materials with user groups, gather feedback and make adjustments to improve content.

I may improve the client employment prospects if clients have some associated formal documents and professional writing in the related areas.
