Search Engine Optimization is a way to get visitors from search Engines like Google to your website. Search Engines are a great source of traffic, but about 70% of people never go past the first page of search engine results. There are 2 key factors that affect how results are ranked by search engines. They are relevance to a particular query and the authority of the website. Relevance can be measured by the volume of important keywords related to that page/post that are present in the SEO title, title tags, metadescription and URL. Authority, on the other hand is determined by the number of backlinks that point back to that site. To get great keywords that would attract a lot of visitors, Keyword Research has to be carried out. I make use of tools like Ubersuggest and Keyword Planner to do this. I will also use a tool called SpyFu to spy on your competitors to find out what keywords they are ranking for. Once this has been successfully carried out, title tag and metadescription will then be written to contain the desired keyword. The URL will also adjusted to contain the keyword. For Wordpress websites, I use a plugin called Yoast-SEO. Then, internal links from your other web posts/pages will be added to the content so that interested visitors can click directly to that page/post. This is will also be done for External links. Alternate text will be added to the images on that post/page so that should an error occur and the image does not load, the alternate text will be displayed. This text will describe what the image represents. Finally, your sitemap will be submitted to Google Search Console for indexing so that your page/post is crawled and it comes up in search results at the earliest.
