I have been developing applications, specifically for the Windows platform, since 1999. I began my career writing client-server, desktop applications with Visual Basic 6. I made the switch to web development in 2001, choosing ASP and COM as I was already familiar with the syntax and development environments. All serious and competent .NET developers should be able to code in either language. I consider myself to be proficient in both; though, my preference is VB.NET.
