Sisi witnessed the official signing of

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that the new electric train network comes as a consolidation of the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and Germany in the field of infrastructure.

This came during President El-Sisi’s reception today, Saturday, Roland Bosch, CEO of the German “Siemens” company, in the presence of Lieutenant-General Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Eng. Sayed Farouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Contractors Company, and Eng. Osama Beshai, Chairman and Managing Director of Orascom Construction, to Frank Hartmann, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cairo, and Michael Peter, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Siemens Mobility.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Ambassador Bassam Rady, stated that the meeting witnessed the signing ceremony of the contract with the international company "Siemens", within an alliance that includes Orascom and the Arab Contractors, to establish an integrated system for the rapid electric train in Egypt with a total length of about 2000 km nationwide, with the aim of Establishing a modern network of high-speed railways in Egypt linking 60 cities with trains with a speed of up to 230 km/h, serving 90% of the citizens, serving millions of passengers daily, and also transporting millions of tons of goods annually. The contract also includes the provision of maintenance services for 15 years

Lieutenant-General Kamel Al-Wazir explained that the new system will consist of 3 main lines, the first being a line similar to the Suez Canal in its strategic importance, as it will link between the city of Ain Sukhna on the Red Sea and the cities of Alexandria, El Alamein and Matrouh on the Mediterranean with a length of 660 km, and for the second line it will be about 1100 km long. km, linking Cairo and Abu Simbel through the cities of Luxor and Aswan, and then helping to connect the capital with the emerging economic centers in Upper Egypt, while the third line will be 225 km long, extending from the city of Qena to Safaga and passing through Hurghada.
