What exactly does a social media manager do?
“The short answer: a lot!” Among many other things we are responsible for the Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, and Google Plus accounts of our Clients. Social media managers are responsible for curating a brand’s social channels. They establish accounts, monitor, moderate and respond to audience comments; manage social media partnerships with other brands; and create and/or post shareable videos and images.
They also strategize and execute digital marketing campaigns and gather and analyze the data results from those campaigns. In addition to working with the design team to make illustrations and memes for their accounts, we tracks how much traffic is driven to Client’s campaigns via social media and notes what content is performing best so our editorial team can use those analytics to grow the site’s audience.
Communicating on social
As the voice of your brand for customers on social media, you have to be able to drop what you’re doing at a moment’s notice to hop on a trending topic or handle a disgruntled customer complaint. And you aren’t only communicating in writing; you’re also using emojis, video, GIFs, pictures, stickers and anything else at your disposal to get your message across in a clear and engaging way.
The best social media managers are excellent copywriters and sparkling digital conversationalists who not only embody, but enhance, their brand’s voice on social. From attention-grabbing ad copy to witty social banter, you should know how to write concise copy that elicits emotion from your audience. We do a fantastic job of this, pairing cheeky captions with their colorful, highly saturated images to tell a story and connect with their pop culture-savvy audience.
