I have skills in social media marketing, photography, content creation, digital editing, digital design, layout, and social media campaigns. I’ve worked as an intern doing social media marketing for a year and served as my school’s first editor-in-chief. I served as my school’s first Editor-in-Chief. This role granted me the power to make big decisions pertaining to the yearbook theme, layout and design. Upon accepting my role,, my yearbook teacher, revealed that we would use my mock yearbook theme that I presented at the end of pervious year for my final exam. The idea was an interactive book that encouraged students to actually respond to prompts throughout the pages with their own writing and artwork -- our theme was "write yOUR own story.” Not only was I given creative freedom, but I was also able to become a teacher to my peers. Compared to traditional high schools, our yearbook staff is very small! The staff consisted of six members, excluding myself and my advisor. This small group allowed me to teach personalized instruction, so when I led the class through new techniques and skills, I taught them based on my first-hand experience and catered to their learning styles. I created a fun and memorable class through relationship building and individualized instruction on photography, design and editing. This role called for someone who was balanced, passionate, and engaged. Seeing this book come to fruition was one of my proudest moments as our school’s first editor. I led the creation of a book that the whole student body from 6th-12th grades could enjoy. Additionally, Jostens, the national company that produces our yearbooks, uses our book as an example across the state of North Carolina to showcase the quality of a book that a small staff at a small school can produce with creativity, collaboration, hard work and leadership.
